She is part of the New Leaders Program with the Legal Aid Society, which advocates for equal justice and provides critical legal representation for all New Yorkers, regardless of identity or income. In 2023, she was awarded LGBT Bar New York’s Pro Bono Excellence Award for her work representing the non-biological mother of a child in a parentage and custody dispute, and in 2024 she was admitted to the Family Law Institute for the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association.
Anita is fluent in Spanish, which was her first language, and is proficient in French and conversational in Italian. Outside of work, Anita is an avid traveler, reader of contemporary literature, and yogi. She resides in Brooklyn with her husband and their two rescue animals.
